Bishop’s Message

“Fullness of Life” has been the Vision of the Diocese of Pathein since the first Synod of the Diocese was held in 1997, under the pastoral leadership of Local Ordinary Bishop of Pathein (from 1996 to 2003),His Excellency Bishop Charles Bo (now Charles Cardinal Bo). Since then, both Social and Pastoral

Commissions were set up and began to function more systematically.

The review of the decisions of the Synod and implementation of the Commissions were collaboratively held in 2009 at the Diocesan Center Pathein where attended all the Clergy of Pathein diocese, Religious Superiors and Heads/Representatives of respective Commissions. With some amendments and modifications on the decisions of the Synod, the dedicated Commissions continue resolutely the missions towards achieving the Vision of the Diocese.

Throughout the year 2017, which celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the Diocesan Synod, the whole diocese of Pathein was mobilized under the Consultancy of Fr. C. Amalraj ( SJ). Different steps such as workshops, data collections, data entries, were taken to review, evaluate and plan the works of each Commissions. Thus, the draft of the Socio Pastoral Program for the Five Year Diocesan Strategic Plan of 2018-2022 has come to its realization. Following the inspiration of the first Diocesan Synod of 1997, this drafted document is simply a revised and amended text of the Commissions combined into 10 Socio Pastoral Commissions.

“Failing to Plan is like Planning to Fail” as the saying goes, the Diocese of Pathein is taking serious steps in reviewing and planning the Diocese Socio Pastoral program. This is our Road Map and based on this Road Map the Diocese of Pathein will continue to be at the service of the Kingdom of God on earth specifically situated in the Region of Ayeyarwady, Myanmar.

Many thanks to all who have participated and contributed with all collective efforts to come to the realization of this Socio Pastoral Program of the Diocese which is also known as The Diocesan Strategic Plan 2018 to 2022.

Thy Kingdom Come!
